Marcel van der Togt has been swimming his entire life and is one of the first swimmers to work together with Marcel Stroet to bring together long distance swimmers in the Netherlands. In 2014 she founded OWSC together.
Through his experience as Dutch National Open Water Swimming, he has accompanied several famous top athletes to great achievements. For example, in 1985 he coached Irene vd Laan in achieving the NL record 24 hours of swimming, Niki Farugia accompanied the first solo swimmer from sicily to malta and assisted Edith van Dijk in Berlin when she won gold on the 10KM. And so the list goes on. The core of his approach is always to remove obstacles and create positive focus. He himself is also a meritorious swimmer and has already won the Kanaal and the IJsselmeer several times.
In addition to his experience as a trainer, Marcel is constantly developing himself as a coach because he knows from experience how important it is that you as an athlete have the right mindset. As coach he sees it as his mission to quickly understand what is important for an athlete and to add what is needed.
Marcel continues to use and develop his experience to help more people realize their dreams. He is now working on Maarten van der Weijden and his ambition to swim the 11 cities for the first time in Dutch history in 2018.
